Frequently Asked Questions

Short, clear answers to the most common TFT questions.

What's the best comp in TFT?

The "best comp" changes every patch. TFT Analytics tier list updates with each patch. S-tier comps are the strongest right now, but depending on your lobby, items, and augments, an A-tier comp is often the smarter play. Meta shifts constantly, stay flexible.

What is Fast 8 and when should I do it?

Fast 8 means rushing level 8 on round 4-2 or 4-5 and rolling for 4-cost carries. Players with a strong early board and a win streak take this route. You use it to turn tempo advantage into a stronger board faster than the lobby.

How do you play a reroll comp?

Reroll comps stay at level 5, 6, or 7 and roll down to 3-star a 1/2/3-cost carry. The key is building economy early, prioritizing items, and rolling at the right stage. You extract power from low-cost units instead of leveling fast.

How do you manage gold in TFT?

Stay above 50 gold. Every 10g earns 1 interest, capped at 5. Win and loss streaks both give bonus gold, either works. Don't roll unless you need to, and don't level when the board doesn't need it. Starting a streak in Stage 1 usually pays the most.

How should I choose augments?

Augments shape your comp. If you take a trait augment, you're committing to that comp. Economy augments are strong early but fall off late; combat augments are the opposite. If a prismatic shows up, usually you build around it.

How often does the TFT meta change?

Riot ships a patch roughly every 2 weeks, with a new set every 3-4 months. The meta is messy in the first 48 hours after a patch, then settles. TFT Analytics Patch Notes page tracks every change with buff/nerf commentary.

Who are the strongest TFT champions?

The "strongest champion" depends on comp context. Different carries rise each patch. 5-costs are generally strong, but reroll carries can win lobbies when uncontested. Check the Champions page for per-champion traits and cost breakdowns.

Who is Mortdog?

Mortdog is the TFT Game Director. He's the authoritative voice on patch changes, design philosophy, and nerf/buff reasoning. His Twitter posts often hint at upcoming changes. The TFT Analytics Mortdog page summarizes his statements in a patch-focused way.

How is the data collected?

Comp statistics (average placement, Top 4, win rate, pick rate, augment tiers) come from MetaTFT and are stored per rank bracket. Boards, item priority and game plans are merged from TFTAcademy, Mobalytics and TFTactics guides and reviewed by hand. Champion, item, trait and augment data is synced from Riot's official CDragon source. Patch notes come from Riot. The Updated line on each page shows the last data refresh, and the number next to it is the match count behind the stats.
